Wow, it's been THIRTEEN YEARS since I wrote here.
I can't even catch up. There's just Too Much $#!+. I know that we have become ENTIRELY too dependent on the internet, on our devices, on our online presences. It seems we can't extract ourselves, though, unless we kind of all do it at once. This seems to be the case with turning our lives upside down to halt human-aggravated climate change, too.
Man, we have been through a lot.
Global pandemic. 2020-2021-ish, still kinda happening, but no longer in crisis mode. But the virus is still out there, just mutated into something a little less deadly, and there's a vaccine-ish. It's MRNA so not technically a vaccine, but it helps. A lot.
We've been through (you're going to laugh if you're reading this from 2010 but it is horrifically true) D0n@ld Freaking Tr*mp as (i can't believe I'm typing this) Pr*sid*nt of the dang country. Thank heaven that's over. We hope it's over. He's running again. Barf.
Fascism. Good heavens we are all screaming inside, sometimes outside, HOW can you people not SEE we are going through this fascism business and repeating history?! I am NOT a historian, i have never been in love with studying history. But I *respect* it and even **I** can see that we are repeating history!! GAH!
We have been through a lot of social change. We are trying so so hard to bring equity in as many ways as possible, fighting racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, and orientation-ism and identityism, religionism, and even classism (though that's the "elephant in the room" no one wants to talk about even still!!), while the fascist movement is fighting to KEEP society mired in those.
We have had "the kids" rising up and telling off the previous generations for their complacency and oppression and self-serving sabotage of everyone and everything. Greta Thunberg. A hero. Love her. It's time to let the younger generations steer the ship. If we let them, they'll save the world.
